The parents of her are Albanians from Kosovo. Anesa Laxha, and Dukagjin Lipa. The maternal grandparents of her are Bosnian. Additionally, her ancestors are from Peja, which is a Kosovo town of Peja. The grandparents of Lipa were both historians. Lipa is the younger sister of Rina Lipa, and has an older brother called Gjin. Lipa was taught guitar playing and sing from her father Oda. Oda is the singer/guitarist who leads Kosovan's band Oda. The band was heavily influenced by their father's music, which included his original compositions, as well as songs by artists like David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Stereophonics Stereophonics. Lipa began singing at the age of five. In the year she turned nine years old, Lipa started to sing in the Sylvia Young Theater School.
